Preveli and the city of Retanthem

The Preveli area is located about 35 km south of the town of Rethymno and is registered as protected area in the Natura 2000 project.

Preveli Palm Beach, also known as Preveli Lake, is located where the river meets Mega, which carries the waters of the impressive Kourtaliotiko race, flows into the sea. Before going to the beach, we will make a short stop to take photos of the beautiful springs and beautiful nature, thanks to the unique landscape. The combination of the huge vertical cliffs of the gorge, the river with green water and the unique palm forest creates a magical atmosphere and is one of the most romantic beaches of Crete.

Almost a 25-minute walk will give us an unforgettable opportunity to swim in the crystal clear waters of the Libyan Sea, next to tropical rivers. Enjoy the sun and you will walk through an exotic palm forest.

Our last stop before heading back will be a visit to the old traditional town of Rethymno, for a stroll through the narrow streets full of flowers and shops or a coffee break.
